Bravado! Show Choir presents: Curtains Up! A Broadway Celebration
Barrie, ON – Bravado! Show Choir is thrilled to bring the magic of Broadway to Barrie’s Georgian Theatre
taking the audience on an exciting musical journey through some of the most beloved showtunes of all
time. From timeless classics to modern favourites, Curtains Up! – A Broadway Celebration is a live
experience you won’t want to miss.
Step into a historic theatre where a stage manager and crew discover the stories of legendary
productions as they prepare to close the doors one final time. Through unforgettable music,
choreography and storytelling, the stage will come alive with the spirit of Broadway’s greatest moments.
Musically directed by Ellen Wells with choreography by Adele MacKenzie, David Lopez, Samantha
Wallace, Amber Kaufman, and Bob Fosse, the show features the incredible voices of Bravado! Show
Choir with a special performance by the Hamilton School of Irish Dance. Curtains Up! promises an
evening of lively entertainment, nostalgia and pure theatrical energy.
Backed by a live band, guests can expect cherished Broadway classics like “One Day More” from Les
Miserables and “All That Jazz” from Chicago. We’ll also bring to life a variety of crowd favourites from
modern Broadway musicals like “Dancing Through Life” from Wicked and “Raise You Up/Just Be” from
Kinky Boots.
The show offers something for everyone’s tastes, taking audiences on a powerful roller coaster of
emotions. One moment you’ll be dancing and singing in your seat, the next you could be moved to tears –
it’s all part of the Broadway experience.
“Bravado! redefines choir. We are a unique ensemble, not just in Barrie but all of Ontario. We are
known for bold, dynamic and innovative performances,” says Wells. “Our goal for Curtains Up! is
to immerse audiences in the music and the stories unfolding in song on the stage. The audience
can expect to sing along with familiar musical theatre blockbusters and discover new favourites.”
This highly anticipated show, complete with costumes, sets and electrifying energy, will be taking place
at the Georgian Theatre in Barrie for an evening performance on Fri., May 1, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. and a
matinee on Sat., May 2, 2026 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under.

performances I attended as a child and teenager. We invite new audience members of all ages to

About Bravado!:
Bravado! Show Choir has been building community through music for over 25 years. The group is
comprised of members ranging in age from their 20s to 80s. A true community choir, Bravado! sings
repertoire from classical to gospel, jazz to Broadway, and rock to pop. Our shows tell stories using music,
movement and dance, providing a full, theatrical and comedic experience.
We take pride in our tight harmonies and innovative vocal arrangements often including live bands. From
guitar solos to violinists, we bring variety to the stage. Bravado! concerts feature special guest performers l
ike bell ringers, dancers, jazz bands, acrobats and even Elvis, drawing from the abundance of talent
across Simcoe County. Whether it be a string quartet or a trapeze artist, our special guests always enrich
our performances and keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
Bravado! presents two self-produced shows every year in May and December. We also support our

Choreo
Bravado! is NOT a line of serious people singing from behind hymn sheets. We memorize our music so we can dance! Drawing on the skills of local choreographers, alongside our talented dance captain, we hope to bring you an exciting program, which is a feast for the eyes, and well as the ears!

Bravado’s mission statement is: “Building Community Through Music.” In addition to going out into the community by holding the popular Voices at Large public rehearsals, Bravado always strives to hire singers, dancers, and musicians from the local community.
We encourage local young people to participate in performances both behind the scenes and onstage and are always looking for our next potential stage manger from within the neighborhood talent! Bravado! lends its support to charitable events and fundraisers, and organizes a charitable give away at each show, to provide support for a local cause in need.
