Bravado!, Barrie’s Show Choir, announces its latest show “Festivus. For the best in us.”
Across all cultures, high holy days, religious celebrations, and festivals share a focus on
the best qualities of humanity :
Service to others,
Experience the diversity of Christmas & Holiday musical traditions with our special
guests the Ukrainian Federation Choir, Hamilton School of Irish dance, and Lasya –
Poetry of Footsteps.
Bravado! invites you to come and be entertained with choreography and musical
selections of the season ranging from the solemn and beautiful “Ave Maria” to Randy
Bachman’s rockin’ “Taking Care of Christmas” (to the tune of “Taking Care of Business”).
The choir’s holiday tradition continues with Bravado’s Children’s Matinee. The fun starts
with seasonal crafts at 1 PM followed by a 2 PM show aimed at young audience
members. The special repertoire includes the familiar “Sparklejollytwinklejingly”,
complete with choreography, and kids can look forward to a visit from Santa!
This season Bravado! welcomes our new Director Ellen Wells who brings her
considerable musical accomplishments to the role. At present Ellen teaches vocal and
instrumental music at Pickering College in Newmarket leading the choirs and jazz band,
and directing the musical theatre productions there. Ellen hails from Newfoundland,
where her passion for music began at age 5 when her family acquired a used piano, and
she began teaching herself to play and read music. She later completed Bachelor of
Music, and Bachelor of Music Education degrees at Memorial University. Ellen is a
familiar face having stepped up to directing Bravado! this year from her role as our
accompanist and bandleader.
Bravado! is also excited to introduce our audience to the musical excellence of Nena
Lamarre, our new accompanist. A Bravado! alumnus from the alto section, Nena is an
accomplished Master class clinician, and a beloved Suzuki method piano teacher. She
holds an Honours Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Western Ontario in
Matinee tickets for Kids 12 and under are $7 and adults are $18. A family package of

What is Choral Fusion?
Not Your Grandma’s Choir
Bravado!’s choral-fusion style transitions fluently from Classical through Gospel, Jazz and Broadway to Rock without sacrificing musical excellence.
Bravado presents 2 self-produced concerts each year in May and December. We support our community by performing for charitable events and we can also be hired for private functions.
Pull back the curtains for a musical experience that leaves a lifetime impression.
THEATRE & COMEDY
SPECIAL GUESTS & SOLOISTS
Bravado! concerts often include special guests drawn from the abundance of talent in our local community. Our past guests have included bell ringers, dancers, a jazz band, acrobats, and even Elvis! Whether it be a string quartet or a trapeze artist, our special guests always enrich our performances, and keep the audience on the edge of their seats!
Bravado! is NOT a line of serious people singing from behind hymn sheets. We memorize our music so we can dance! Drawing on the skills of local choreographers, alongside our talented dance captain, we hope to bring you an exciting program, which is a feast for the eyes, and well as the ears!
HERE FOR YOU
OUR CORE VALUES
Bravado’s mission statement is: “Building Community Through Music.” In addition to going out into the community by holding the popular Voices at Large public rehearsals, Bravado always strives to hire singers, dancers, and musicians from the local community.
We encourage local young people to participate in performances both behind the scenes and onstage and are always looking for our next potential stage manger from within the neighborhood talent! Bravado! lends its support to charitable events and fundraisers, and organizes a charitable give away at each show, to provide support for a local cause in need.
Whether purchasing tickets, looking to join or support Bravado!, or if you simply have a question, drop us a line and we’ll be in touch
